Gondwanan Forests- Patagonian Component

Learn about the shared flora of the angiosperm families Myrtaceae, Proteaceae, Asteraceae, Orchidaceae,Cyperaceae, Ericaceae and Nothofagaceae as well as conifers such as Araucaria,Podocarpus, Prumnopitys and Phyllocladus and endemic spp. such as Fitzroya cupressoides and associated Andean and Pampan fauna.

The Patagonian leg of this journey across the Gondwana relicts will look at:

  1. The Major Shared Angiosperm Families between Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia and Patagonia ;
  2. Nothofagus linkages between Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia and Patagonia and,
  3. Southern conifer linkages between Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia and Patagonia

Locations and Duration:
11 days ex-Santiago Chile finishing in Ushuaia,Argentina with visits to Parque Pumalin amongst other remarkable  Gondwanic treasures on the way to Ushuaia.

The endpoint is timed to arrive in Ushuaia for clients of Wild Earth to join the Antarctic Penguin Safari that departs from Ushuaia on the 27th January 2019.
